Veterans Appreciation Luncheon with a Celebrity Guest at Dothan Housing

Housing Authority Will Donate Retired Fleet Vehicles to United States Military Veterans

Dothan, Ala. --- Dothan Housing will host a closed invitation-only Veterans Appreciation Luncheon on Saturday, July 15, 2023, inside the Our Community Housing and Enrichment Center (OCHEC) from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. This luncheon will feature a donation of several retired DH vehicles to local veteran's groups Disabled American Veterans (DAV®), and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).

"Dothan Housing is an agency that meets the needs of our community and consistently seeks avenues to bridge the gap," says Samuel P. Crawford, Dothan Housing CEO. "What better way to say thank you to those organizations that support our nation's heroes than by donating vehicles that can truly aid their mission and extend their reach? The support of our Board of Commissioners has been paramount to this endeavor."

In addition to lunch, invited guests will receive encouraging words, including letters of appreciation from fellow military service members and state representatives. The valued servicemen and women will also be treated to a private meet and greet with a special celebrity guest, Thomas "Nephew Tommy" Miles!

"This is an exciting time for Dothan Housing as we continue to live up to our "Why" and our agency values, which include putting 'People' first," says Dr. Tamara Berry-Andrews, CHO of Dothan Housing. "Mr. Miles is an avid supporter of our nation's veterans through his foundation, Miles of Giving."

DH is proud to be the employer of several active and retired military service members. The agency, through the Wiregrass Regional Voucher Program, partners with several landlords and developers who are also currently serving our nation through various military branches.

Dr. Michael C. Threatt, COO of Dothan Housing, states, "Our nation's heroes deserve recognition year-round for their sacrifices, and we are honored to be able to provide several humble tokens of appreciation to such deserving service groups, like DAV and VFW, within the Wiregrass Area."

This event is invitation-only and closed to the public, but we encourage citizens to support and acknowledge those who have and continue to fight for our freedom. For more information on this event, please email Leah Gunn, Communications Coordinator, at
